Maulana’s wife and his two daughters were murdered by 2 students in the mosque of Baghpat, UP. Both of them were taking training (education) from Maulana in the mosque itself. At 9 am on Saturday, Maulana Ibrahim beat both the students for studying. Then he went to Deoband in Saharanpur to welcome the Afghan Foreign Minister.
At 1 o’clock in the afternoon both the students entered the mosque. When they went to the room there, Maulvi’s wife Israna (30) and daughters Sophia (5) and Sumaiya (2) were sleeping in the room. The accused students killed all three by hitting them with a hammer while they were sleeping. That means the students took revenge of the beating within 4 hours.
Then his throat was slit with a knife, so that there was no chance of survival. After this both of them ran away. When the triple murder was revealed in the mosque, the accused students came. He also pretended to cry and fuss.
SP Suraj Rai said- Both the accused used to study in the madrassa of the mosque. The Maulvi had beaten him, so the students killed his wife and two daughters. The age of the accused is 14 and 15 years. Both have confessed to the crime.

Gangnoli village is in Doghat police station, about 45 km from Baghpat district headquarters. There is Ibrahim Mufti in the mosque here. Along with teaching namaz in the mosque, he used to give training to children in the madrassa. A room was built above the mosque itself. A family of wife and two daughters lived in it. Ibrahim was originally a resident of Sunna village of Muzaffarnagar.
People came to the mosque to offer namaz at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon. He called out to Maulana, but there was no response. When people went to the first floor, they saw blood flowing out of the room. When the door was opened, the blood soaked bodies of his wife and two daughters were lying inside.
The triple murder created a stir. Hundreds of people reached the mosque. Senior police officers also reached. People started creating ruckus and demanding the arrest of the accused. The Maulvi was not at home when the incident occurred.
He had gone to Deoband to welcome Afghan Foreign Minister Muttaki. People nearby informed him. He came back on the wrong foot.
All three dead bodies were lying on the same cot.

The way the crime was committed, there was no robbery angle in it. The police was clear that the murder took place due to personal rivalry. In such a situation, the police’s suspicion first fell on Maulana Ibrahim. The reason for this was also that all the CCTVs installed inside the mosque were switched off.
As soon as Maulana arrived, the police took him into custody for questioning. Police asked questions and answers to Maulana. He went on telling everything. After this the police released him. DIG, forensic team and dog squad also arrived.
The police checked the CCTV installed at the gate of the mosque and the surrounding CCTVs. In this, two students were seen walking outside the mosque and then entering inside the mosque at 12.30. The police took both the minor students into custody. Initially they remained reluctant, but as soon as the police took strict action, both the students broke down. He confessed to the crime.
As soon as the news of 3 murders was received, the family members reached the spot. He had become unconscious due to crying.
He was beaten by Maulvi at 9 in the morning, his family was murdered at 1 o’clock.
During police interrogation, the accused students told that at 9 am on Saturday, Maulvi Ibrahim had beaten both of them while they were studying in the madrasa. After this, he went to Deoband of Saharanpur at 10 o’clock. At 1 pm, in revenge, the students killed the Maulvi’s wife and two daughters.
The accused told that they reached the mosque room at around 1 o’clock. Maulvi’s wife and two daughters were sleeping there. He first hit the three of them hard on the head with a hammer kept in the room. After this, he was murdered by slitting his throat with a knife and stabbing him.
The bodies of both the daughters were left on the cot, while the body of the wife was kept on the ground and they ran away from the spot. Both the murdered students live just 100 meters away from the mosque. Both are old friends. Both of them said that Maulvi Ibrahim often beat them in the name of studies. Used to insult him in front of everyone. So he took revenge.

Both of them were so vicious that after committing the murder they themselves joined the crowd and started protesting in front of the police. When the police initially detained the Maulvi, they started raising slogans – Our Maulvi Saheb cannot do this, leave him.
When Meerut Zone DIG Kalanidhi Naithani wanted to send the three bodies for postmortem, the family members protested. The women also had a scuffle with the police. People barely agreed after the DIG’s explanation.
