There was a closed-door conversation between Azam and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav for 2 hours in Rampur on Wednesday. Akhilesh had gone to Rampur alone. Azam received him in Johar University. Then both the leaders held each other’s hands and came to the house through narrow streets.
This was the first meeting of Akhilesh and Azam 15 days after his release from jail. After the meeting, when Akhilesh came out of Azam’s house, he talked to the media. But Azam remained silent.

Azam Khan was released from Sitapur jail on 23 September. He remained in jail for 23 months.
Question: Today Akhilesh Yadav came, did he gift you a pen? Azam Khan: The whole fight is about this. Some people get knives worth Rs 80 lakh made and installed at intersections here. I want to make them IAS, PCS, Engineer, Doctor, Scientist by giving them a pen of one rupee. Now you decide, which is right.

Question: There are 114 cases against you. Has the Supreme Court said about re-trial in the PAN card case? Azam Khan: Will go to jail. You haven’t come to scare us, have you?

Azam Khan had said- I will meet Akhilesh Yadav alone. And not from anyone else. Displeasure was also expressed over taking the name of Rampur MP Mohibullah Nadvi.
Question: Rampur MP started from Lucknow and was dropped in Bareilly. Is there any statement from you behind this? Azam Khan: They are needed in Bareilly. Are scholars. At this time, it is the big responsibility of the Ulemas to explain to the Muslims. Also on this issue (I Love Mohammed) how it should be presented. What else should be done? What should be the limits? Bahaisiyat is a scholar. I hope, they will go among those people and they should go. Ointment should be applied on their wounds. Question: There have been so many cases against you, whom do you hold responsible, any officer or the government? Azam Khan: (laughing loudly) I consider myself responsible. I am a thief. Neither would I have been a thief, nor would there have been so many cases against me. The only complaint is that sections of robbery have been filed against the thief. There was some excess.
Question: After being released from jail 5 years ago and now, is there a huge difference in your tone? Azam Khan: You put off for 10 more years. You will be able to talk to the dead. You lock yourself in a room like this, then I will see whether any sound comes out or not.
