Voting will be held on 9 September for the Vice President’s election and counting will be held on the same day. The last date for filing nomination for the post of Vice President is 21 August. Candidates can be withdrawn by 25 August.
In fact, Jagdeep Dhankhar suddenly resigned from the post of 14th Vice President of the country on the night of 21 July. The tenure of 74 -year -old Dhankar was till 10 August 2027.
Thawarchand Gehlot from BJP The BJP can make a worker dedicated to its ideology for this post. Currently, the names that are being considered in the party, Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot is considered to be the most strong contender. The other name is also of Sikkim Governor Om Mathur.

NDA has majority in Parliament
- Out of a total of 542 members in the Lok Sabha, NDA has 293 members and the INDI alliance has 234 members.
- Out of the effective number of 240 members in the Rajya Sabha, NDA is supported by around 130 MPs and 79 MPs for INDI alliance.
- Overall, NDA has 423 MPs and 313 MPs near India block. The remaining members are not associated with any camp.
Gehlot also fit in ethnic equation

Thawarchand Gehlot is currently the Governor of Karnataka. 77 -year -old Gehlot has been the leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha as well as holding the post of Union Minister. He has also been a member of the highest policy -making unit Parliamentary Board in the BJP. They also fit into the caste equation (Dalit). He is from Madhya Pradesh. He also has administrative experience.
Mathur close to Modi-Shah

Om Mathur is currently the Governor of Sikkim. The 73 -year -old Mathur is a strong leader of the party and comes from Rajasthan. He has been the election in -charge of Gujarat when PM Modi was the Chief Minister of the place. Along with Modi, he is also considered close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Mathur has been a campaigner in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Harivansh Narayan Singh was born on 30 June 1956 in Sitabadiyara village of Ballia, UP. He was a journalist by profession. In 2014, Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar was elected on JDU ticket.
